One of the many life lessons that is instilled in every Devon student/alum is that any obstacle or challenge can be overcome with hard work and determination.
That "can do" attitude was displayed on June 12, 2011 at the MS Philadelphia Mud Run. Three alumni, Art Boyle '83 (left), Harry DiDonato '83 (center), Brian DiDonato '84 participated in the MS Mud Run Philly as part of Team Vitamin D captained by Brian DiDonato, who also serves as the Chairman of the Greater Philadelphia MS Society.
For those of you unfamiliar with a Mud Run, think military obstacle course on steroids. The only thing missing was live rounds being expended over our heads and a vitriolic drill sergeant shouting expletives at us.
A 10k (6.2 miles) trail run interspersed with 30 obstacles of ranging from a relatively innocuous jog through an ankle deep mud bog to hurling yourself off a 15 foot high platform into 10 feet of filthy mud and water. Throw in some two story cargo net climbs, traversing slick and unsteady logs over a six foot deep ravine, and climbing countless man made hills of dirt followed by 5 foot deep bogs of water and mud, and you got yourself a mud run.
