Class of '61 Celebrates 50th Anniversary
In early October, more than 20 members of the Class of ’61 gathered to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their graduation from Devon Prep. The reunion activities began with a cocktail reception on Friday evening at the home of classmate Bill Cotter. One of the highlights of the evening occurred as Fr. Richard Wyzykiewicz ’61 presented each classmate with a trophy for being the “1961 Intramural Football Champions.”
On Saturday several of the alumni drove out to southern Chester County to tour the renowned Longwood Gardens, while one foursome sought the hills of Pickering Valley for a round of golf. Later that night The Concordville Inn provided the setting for cocktails and dinner. Before they departed their golden anniversary celebration to travel as far away as Maine, Kentucky, California, and even Sydney, Australia they gathered one more time for Mass in the Devon chapel.
The members of the Class of ’61 who attended an enjoyable weekend of camaraderie and memories included: John Connelly, Philip Connor, James Cooney, J. William Cotter, Joseph DiTomo, Rev. Christopher Dixon, Henry Gallagher, Hugh Gannon, H. James Gross, Frank Hamory, Henry Heisey, Julius Hernadi, Kamill Hilberth, Charles Jacoby, Allison Maggiolo, Robert Mars, James McManus, John Sandoski, John Torrillo, Matthew Walsh, and Rev. Richard S. Wyzykiewicz Sch.P.
